I didn’t have anything to do this afternoon so I went for a longer ride. Highway 169 from Cedar, to Mellen Wi is a nice windy narrow 45mpg road that I’ve wanted to ride since I first thought for buying a motorcycle. Today I finally did.
I took a break when I got down to Mellen found a little park on the river and had a snack.
The new windshield extension made the ride a lot more enjoyable. I need to get some ear plugs tho I keep forgetting about that. The bike isn’t too loud I just window noise on the helmet, it’s a cheap helmet so being quite clearly wasn’t a priority.
My father in-law actually grew up on 169 a few miles north of Mellen. My wife and I considered buying his families old farm house, but realized we don’t want to live 5 miles out of a town of 800. That’s just too small town for me.

Nice! So pretty up there. Been a million years, but as a kid, we usually vacationed in Hayward or Spooner.

That looks like a really fun ride.

I was actually supposed to ride to Hayward today, but I took too long making the windshield extension this morning. We had a zoom meeting at 10 and I didn’t get done till 9.

It was. One huge bonus was that the whole ride on 169 there wasn’t anyone Behind me so I didn’t have to worry about goin a certain speed. I could just cruise along, and slow down for turns if I wanted too. I’m still a VERY inexperienced rider and honestly I sometimes get a bit nervous turning at speed.
Altho I’ve noticed that overthink things and if I just ride without thinking about it too hard I do a lot better lol.
Also getting tailgated on a motorcycle is the most nerve racking thing ever

Yeah, getting tailgated on a bike is awful . Sometimes I pull off, if I can.

Yeah when it happened the other day I was too stubborn for that. I did stay to the right tho, they had ample opportunities to pass me and just didn’t.

Don’t let stubbornness get the best of you. We both have kids to raise. W e have to remember that when we make choices in the way we ride. Not that your riding crazy, because clearly you aren't. Just keep that in mind.
Semi-related: A couple months ago I had four dude-bros on Harleys behind me at a stop light. They were making fun of me for wearing a helmet while riding my scooter (amongst themselves, they weren’t talking to me) . I pretend not to hear them, because all it takes is one fuck-stick with a pistol in his waistband.
A tip I will share from an interview I heard of Jay Leno. Ride to ride. Never take a motorcycle when you’re running late, because you may take a chance that will get you killed.
